X Omni Vineyard
In 2012, just two years after X Novo was underway, we added another parcel to our estate, approximately 4 miles south and on the last hill within the Eola-Amity Hills AVA. X Omni, meaning from all, is a 35-acre parcel with 18 acres of vines.
Planted over nine years, this site is situated on the shallower, rocky soil series known as Nekia at 450-500 feet of elevation, with a southeast aspect bordered to the west by dense Douglas fir.
The vineyard is comprised of 13 acres of Chardonnay and 5 acres of Pinot Noir. We continued to thoughtfully add to our vine community, as at X Novo, and now have upwards of two dozen different selections here with both varieties.
Only a few miles south of X Novo, this is nevertheless our coolest vineyard. Here, the Van Duzer winds sweep through with even greater effect, shaping a slower, more deliberate growing season that often delays maturity by a week to ten days compared with its northern neighbor. The soils are leaner, with less topsoil and fewer nutrients, yielding some of our most distinctive fruit - grapes marked by vivid natural acidity and notably low pH.
X Omni stands as a graceful counterpoint to X Novo, producing wines defined by lively tension, persistent brightness, and a fine chalky minerality that reflects the precision and restraint of this cooler, wind-driven site.
